Our Future

AgroFirst aspires towards a sustainable future encompassing perishables and beyond, with a strategic focus on diversification and value addition in the near future. Our targeted value chains flourish in the challenging environments of Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs). The key to achieving commercial viability lies in extending our reach to a wider audience, thereby fortifying a sustainable and resilient supply chain. This, in effect, contributes to elevated incomes and improved livelihoods for marginalized rural communities. We eagerly anticipate fruitful collaborations as we explore the myriad opportunities that lie ahead.

Technology in Agriculture

Utilizing technology to map farmers, fields, and inputs, monitor safe pesticide use, and provide accurate weather and yield forecasts is pivotal. By delivering precise weather forecasts to farmers, we can empower climate-resilient production, reducing vulnerability to disruptive climate change risks. This not only improves internal efficiencies but also enhances traceability, meets food safety goals, and facilitates data-driven decision-making.

Baobab (Raw/Powder/Oil)

The baobab, the largest tree species of the Adansonia genus native to Africa, has experienced significant growth since its dried pulp received EU approval in 2008. The increasing demand for superfoods, supplements, and ingredients with high nutrient content and antioxidant properties creates an attractive niche market for baobab.

Dried Chili

Dried chilies, obtained by drying ripe paprika fruit from the Capsicum genus, are in high demand in Europe due to the rise of veganism, international cuisine, and a penchant for spicy foods. However, European consumers tend to prefer milder chili varieties, with approximately 70% of chili imports coming directly from developing countries.

Dried Tropical Fruit

Dried tropical fruit, processed from ripe fruit grown in tropical regions, is expected to see a growth rate of 5-7% in the European market. A significant trend aligns with increased consumption of dried tropical fruit, driven by the popularity of healthy snacking between meals or even as meal replacements.

Gums & Resins Gums and resins represent a promising frontier within AgroFirst’s pursuit of a sustainable future. These natural exudates derived from various plant species have diverse applications in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Our strategic focus on diversification and value addition extends to harnessing the potential of gums and resins, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to both ecological and economic sustainability.
